A photographic ode to an epic bus ride…

I cannot, with images, do justice to this part of the trip.

The road to Agra, India, should have been a fairly manageable 4 or 5 hour drive from Delhi. We left around 8:30pm and should have gotten there no later than 1am. No problem, right?

At 8:30am we arrived in Agra the next morning. What? Yes, a 12hr drive.

We were in traffic around 10:30pm. I fell asleep and woke up around 1am.

We had not yet moved.

From then, a whole string of events from Stephen jumping knee deep into an irrigation ditch, driving for a kilometer without the ladies, sunrise over the smog of 10,000 cars on a gridlock, and a monkey climbing on the side of the bus at a checkpoint.

…thus began my trip to the Taj Mahal.

Okay, it is a very pretty place. Dr.Hopper said that it would be a shame to be within 4hours of one of the wonders of the world and leave before seeing it. He was right.

The wee hours of the morning don’t seem so wee when you’ve seen the rest of them.

But, such is travel. I never regret a moment traveling. Because…

…I have seen it.

.

The whole area is pretty amazing.

.

.

Pardon, lots of photos with not much wordage. After such a day of travel, such was the mindset.

.

.

Honestly, one of the most “touristy” things we’d done on the trip, but I would not have missed it… even with the epic bus ride before.

.

.

The are around Agra is actually quite interesting, too.

And the drive back to Delhi was far less unusual.

…or maybe not.

Always, its a beautiful world.

Stay tuned…
