In transit on the streets…

I told someone in a conversation not long ago, “I just didn’t want to pay for a place to stay for a night so I stayed on the streets.” It completely flabbergasted them.

“On the streets? Like, all night?” they were dubious.

Absolutely.

What’s wrong with that? I mean, I’ve stayed up all night talking with friends at an International House of Pancakes (IHOP) or a Waffle House. What is different in doing that or staying in a cafe all night and sleep on the plane/train the next day?

So, honestly, I wouldn’t advise just anyone to do it. And a girl traveling by herself might not be the best idea. However, the first time I did this was with my own sister… I assure you it is not bad at all.

Yes, you read that right: “the first time.”

I did it again on this night.

The cafe I stay in is directly across from Gare du Nord. If you’re standing with your back to the station: to the left, across from the big glass section of the station, is an all night cafe. Buy a coffee every few hours and stay awake, you’re welcome all night. And, they have a mean-looking bouncer that will keep the peace.

Stay tuned…
