A state of mind in images…

I’ve been to Chicago many times now and it is rapidly becoming one of my favorite places to photograph out on the street.

I am actually impressed by how nice Chicagoans actually are. Going into big cities – New York, London, Berlin, Athens – the people on the street there react differently. But in Chicago, I’m impressed by how many people you can just stop on the street and have a really friendly conversation and go away actually having had a conversation more than, “Nice weather today.”

But today, the weather did not cooperate. Pale, overcast skies. And I was just feeling uninspired, photographically speaking.

It will never cease to amaze me how my state of mind translates into the images I make. Today I was feeling uninspired after doing jobs inside during days of fairly good weather and great sunlight… and finally being able to go forth and shoot amongst the streets… and it rains, ridiculously cold.

The darkness you see is not always what is truly there…

…sometimes, only in your mind. Stay tuned…

Great Black and Whites, the man on the corner is one of my favorites. Keep that shutter clicking!
