Continuation of travel…

My first experience with “unsupported” travel – that is, without anyone making my reservations or travel bookings – was back in February of 2008 while I was studying abroad.

I arrived with two friends and I in Milan, Italy, at around 9pm. We came in on an EasyJet flight from Athens and got dumped off behind the train station. Being the brilliant travelers we imagined we were, we had no reservations beyond that. Of course, we can find a place to stay, right?

So we started walking toward a hostel that one of us had seen in a Lonely Planet book (things like TripAdvisor, etc, didn’t exist yet). Well over an hour later, we get the last three beds in the place. Lucky moment #1 of many for this trip.

Well, now almost exactly five years later, I’ve got almost 50 countries under my shoes, many of which were traveled alone, unsupported, or with only one companion (my sister, one of the best). Those 50 countries that range from Morocco to Cuba to Macau to Ireland, there’s one thing that remains the same no matter what.

As long as I’m traveling, as long as I am exploring this big world, whatever happens it’s going to be good.

2013_01.27-1002190Hang on with me for the next week. The posts will be a little delayed because the internet isn’t always solid, but it’ll all get up as soon as possible.

PS: One factor of the Leica that I am truly getting to love is the realism of the photographs. These photos today – especially the one of the stairs – is absolutely spot-on accurate to real life: the color, exposure, depth of tones, etc.
