Good light…

I love soft light. But for the standard backdrop portrait, excessively dramatic is probably not the order of the day.

But when I shot these two groups, I wanted to experiment with something more “dramatic” without being obvious about it.

The background light is a SB-900 on SU-4 mode zoomed to 200mm. Gives that little spectral highlight behind their head… But the main difference is the feathering of the shoot-through umbrella. Its placed farther around than I normally would have – not the ol’ 10-and-2 positions – and aimed almost back at me.

I don’t know, maybe its a silly difference, but I like the feel. I ALMOST lost the man’s shirt – it was keyed up a little hot – but there is detail there. But just barely.

Well, that’s that. Tech-y stuff.

Stay tuned…
