Wherever you are…

…that is where you should be. Yeah yeah, hot mess existential.

But when the place in which you find yourself is 100% local, a youth theater troop putting on an act in the back of a club somewhere in Haiti…

When you look around and see that you are the only person that cannot walk to their house in less than 10 minutes…

When you see that everyone eyes you with suspicion until you interact with them for a second and they see you’re just another guy watching a show on a Saturday night…

When you’re so outside your comfort zone that nobody in their right mind would have come in voluntarily, but you sit there and attempt a conversation with someone who knows as few words in English as you know in their language…

When you start to realize that you are shooting “street” but not because it is out on the streets, but because a few of the persons in attendance actually LIVE on the street…

When you have to push the camera to the limits of its technical capabilities and use 5-digit ISO’s just to GET a photo, forget making it usable, because the whole place is lit by two yard lights… and one that flickers…

…then, my friend, you are really traveling.

Stay tuned…
