Lose a day in the far country…

As many of you may have realized before, I retro-date my blog posts to reflect the date that I made the image. I started doing that a long time ago when I was doing my 365 Days of Photos because I would be in the far reaches of Haiti or Ethiopia where I had no internet for weeks.

Now, I continue the practice because I don’t always have time to update the blog. But there are almost always photos.

But, for today, I’m doing a little something unorthodox: these images were actually made on Oct 8… not Oct 9 at the post indicates.

Why? Because this was one “experience” i wish to convey.

The experience of a simple thing: camping with friends.

BEGIN POST:

In this part of the world, it is not unusual to go camping with a few friends. Now, camping comes in a variety of forms, of course, ranging from “actually” camping in tents in a random place in the woods to shoving off in the $250,000+ RV and taking your entire house with you and sleep in air conditioning on a bed.

Whichever way you do it, heading out and hanging with friends, playing games in the near dark, hanging out, talking, letting the conversation go as it does… there’s something attractive about it.

Some slept on the ground, some in the front seat of car, some in a tent…

Having watched the sun go down…

(Holy cow Batman, he posted a sunset photo!)

…finding the campground in the dark.

…out the sunroof.

…a beautiful warm evening in October.

…take a walk in the dark, in view of the bridge in Ozark, Ark.

…and waking up as the sun peeks over the hillsides. The cool morning after.

There is just nothing better. All is well.

Stay tuned…
