Light from underneath…

Blame it on whatever natural phenomenon you’d like – angle of the sun, atmospheric composition, amount of trees in bloom vs leaves on the ground, whatever…

…it never fails to amaze me how different something as simple as “light” is in different parts of the world.

I sometimes even blame it on the design of buildings.

Today, I am back in Greece.

The same warm and fuzzy feelings you get from going back to a childhood home or sitting around the table with your family at Thanksgiving or Christmas, I get that in Greece.

I came here to study for a semester back in 2008 and it was one of the experiences that has influenced almost everything else I’ve ever done since.

Never thought I would be back on assignment, though. Alas, I am.

I’m kind of a bad kid when it comes to keeping in contact with home. I’m rather immersive on these assignments. I’m all in. I’m completely consumed. Even so, I did spend a few moments in the phone booth in this light making a call…

Back in the Dark Ages of 2008, we had to use calling cards, though. Now it is just a semi-quiet place to talk to the family back home on Skype.

And there’s always a captain of the ship: this is Mike James. You met Robbie a few days ago in Florence. Same… just here in Greece.

Stay tuned tomorrow. Similar to Rome, tomorrow I’m taking my travel companions out in Athens… one of my homes.

Stay tuned…
