Where no man goes…

There’s a significant difference between talk and action.

To placate someone with, “Let’s talk about this soon…” doesn’t fool anyone. Then there’s the guy that talks and talk and wheels and deals and no rubber ever hits any road.

Philip, in this photograph, is asking a man in Haiti: “What do you need?” and then figuring out how to get it. Metal pipes, military-grade sleeping bags, and waterproof flashlights, starts the list.

And it fascinates me that I never hear, the usual things that we – in the States – consider “necessities”… milk, bread, food, clothes, shoes, etc.

The Haitians that are tired of waiting on the foreign service workers to make it happen are making it happen themselves. They know they can feed themselves. Haiti has incredible resources, so these guys are wanting to use what is there…

…and heal Haiti from the inside out.

It’s completely possible, they know it. They even know how to do it! And when you listen and hear a Haitian say: “I need this.” and not assuming what they need fits into our little American mindset.

So… that’s Haiti. And Haiti’s need is great, but only by listening do we find out what exactly that is.

Stay tuned…
