Come and go home…

Is there a trouble to travel?

It sometimes takes a long time between places.

Sometimes travel forces long hours and exhausting work… just sitting there.

2013_02.03-1002649Eating the airplane food/snacks and trying not to spill your drink.

I see families fighting and arguing in the middle of an airport in the midst of their “vacation.”

Centuries ago, people traveled from town to town and sometimes took many days to go the same distances we go in just a few hours. Or some people would travel through dangerous territories to escape the places we go to spend our holidays. The skyline photo above, for instance… East Berlin.

This big big world becomes much smaller. We might be tempted to feel like we are big people because we can take a step and cross an ocean.

But we are not. We are fragile and frail and limited. It all can be taken very easily. We would do well to remember that in an age when we can know anything and go anywhere and feel like the masters of our own destiny. Stay humble.

It is in travel that I find these things. You may make as much money in a day that I make all year, but we will sit in the airplane only a few feet away.

Stay tuned…
