Today was studio day in my photography class. Being that it is supposedly “advanced” photography, I turn the students loose in an “advanced” studio environment. Umbrellas, softboxes, parabolic reflectors, and more…
Some students struggle with flash photography because it does tend to be a bit complex. It adds a fourth dimension to the exposure triangle – shutter speed, aperture, ISO – and makes it an “exposure pyramid.”
On the other hand, some work well within their understanding of photography to create special images. I feel lucky to have the students in my class. These students “get” photography: they realize that you can put all the technical junk on it that you want, but in the end it is about the personal interaction.
Stay tuned…
