So, I must confess: I barely follow sports. I’m one of those people who watch the Olympics every four years and get my dose of “sport” that will satisfy me for the next four years. I don’t follow a football team – American or otherwise. I might know a dozen player’s names in all of professional athletics.
And I’m here in Europe to document and help lead a group through the history of the Olympics. Luckily, I’m here for logistics: something I do know. Leave the educatin’ to those with doctorates. Only myself or myself plus twenty, I can get people around.
A good place to start if one desires to study the Olympics is Greece. It is the beginning.
Understanding the ancient Greek civilization and the games will help understand the modern Olympic games.
So we explored Athens on the hottest day on record. No big deal.
Above, this is the 2004 Athens Olympic park.
Stay tuned… you’ll see it up close soon.
