A classic look…

Photographers are notorious for being a little gear-happy. Many get caught up in the pursuit of the highest quality equipment to make the highest quality photos. Now, to some extent, there is some merit in having high-quality equipment: high-quality equipment typically can handle more abuse than low-end equipment, high-quality glass does truly make a difference in color rendition and light transmission, and high-end cameras have special sensor/processor pairs that really are different from even upper-level advanced amateur bodies.

So, look through photographs of some of the greatest photographers with Reuters, National Geographic, Magnum, etc, and you might be surprised how many photographs are soft, blurry, grainy, blown out, underexposed, weirdly composed…

There’s a lot more to photography than equipment. There’s a lot more to photography than technical proficiency and fancy equipment.
