Now in Athens…
I was here a few months ago, only a few days into the semester. The students were just getting adjusted to everything.
Now, they are only a couple of weeks remaining until returning home and they are all old pros at all this international travel thing.
What I find fascinating is that some of these students haven’t ventured very far outside their own state. And after just a few months abroad, they know how to navigate airports, public transportation, restaurants, etc, and in a handful of countries!
Whatever other things you could purchase for the money spent on a semester abroad, it could probably be taken away. These experiences cannot be.
