Try a new old camera…

Jeff here has always made it a professional goal to combat “staleness” at every opportunity. Sometimes that means loading up a Brownie camera and going and shooting 120 film for a roll or two. Or maybe an old Kodak or a Hasselblad X-PAN. He takes loads of photos after pulling off to the side of the road and walking out into a field to take a picture of a certain flower that caught his eye.

The new old anti-staleness camera of the moment is my old Leica M8 and a 35/1.4.

His words: “I’m making friends with it.”

As much as I love the Rangefinder, there’s just nothing “easy” about it. And it is stepping back into the raw basics of photography to shoot with them.

So, go do everything you can to be un-stale. Even the best get stale from time to time, but you gotta bust through. And sometimes a change-up of equipment helps!

Stay tuned…
