Notice a haze for the day…

Certain days are full of themes.

It may seem a little artsy touchy-feely, but I sometimes will just wake up with a sense of the day and many of my images seem to hone in on that element because I am more sensitive to that certain thing.

Or maybe it is just my imagination.

Today, I could not escape focusing on the way I could actually see the light in the air. Haze or smoke or etc, it was especially apparent today.

Like this…

That’s smokey-ness from frying bacon, moments after waking up.

I kinda fixated on it. And it continued through the day…

.

But, amongst all that, it was a good day for wandering Florence.

New tram from Scandicci to the SMN station.

.

I think the Voigtlander 35/1.4 has to be one of the greatest lenses ever released. Just a nerdy side-note, I guess, but most of the images you’re seeing today are from that lens. It is a great field of view, spectacular light transmission and image quality at almost all apertures, and just feels good in the hand and on the camera.

.

.

Around all the big touristy spots, crowds and such…

And the quiet spots…

And the quiet spots in the touristy spots…

Then, back to the Villa in Scandicci. The university students are in their last few days before they head back to the states…

By the way, our gracious host, Robbie…

…can’t go without thanking him profusely for being so good to us! He’s the director of the university’s program in Italy and quite an accomplished painter, himself. (Having lived in Italy for most of his life, Tuscany is his domain and much of his artwork is focused here.)

A beautiful land with beautiful light. Maybe fixating on the light here is just noticing what is common…

See tomorrow? Stay tuned…
