The streams of things…

All things of this world start out new.

A baby is born. You get a new puppy. The year begins. The new job starts. All meet the head of the trail with all the zest and vigor of falling in love for the first time.

And things, inevitably, they get old. It is not sad or depressing or cynical… it is true.

Our lives are a rivulet passing over a rock in a stream. Extraordinarily brief and just as impossible to capture.

But that baby becomes a good man and makes a good life for himself. That new puppy grows up to be your best friend. The things that happen in the course of a year, while some may be hard – some may be completely awful – happen to make us who we are.

Blessed is the man who never says, “time is passing too fast” due to the fact that he is making the most of the time that is passing.

Merry Christmas, my friends…
